Lesson: Creating a link to your email address

Creating a link to your personal email address is very simple. its just like adding any other external link to your webpage.

1. Open DW(Dreamweaver) and go to the page that you would like to put a link to your email address to.

2. If you want a picture of you to be the thing that visitors click on to contact you then simply highlight the image.
3. Same goes for if you want your name to be the text that visitors click to bring them to a webpage where they can contact you.
4. After deciding on that, look for INSERT at the top of the menue choices. After clicking INSERT look for the picture symbol that LOOKS LIKE AN TINY MAIL ENVELOPE and CLICK on it.
5. After clicking, a box will appear providing you with a space to enter you email. The blank box should say EMAIL BOX next to.
6. It will also provide you with space to edit text that you want to be represented when visitors go to click for you email address.

THATS IT! mailto:YOURNAME@csun.edu

Lesson 2- Starting your DW layout

Step 1. OPEN UP DW

- When you open up DW. It will pull up an automatic window task to set your perferences. For the time being you don't have to select anything and can just ignore it.

-Windows and Mac I guess seem to work the same way and for the most part are layed out similarly. On the top bar of your screen you will see a bar with the titles, Dreamweaver, File, Edit, View, etc...

- You want to click on Site. and then click on the option that says Manage Site. under the Manage Site option it will pull up a task box. Click on the option on the right that says New.
And then click the Done button on the bottom right of that box.

-The next box that will appear is a box that will ask you Site Definition for GMU Portfolio.
Where it asks you "What would you like to name your site?" type in webpage in the indicated spot.

-The next question below that should ask you "What is your http address?"
In that blank spot type in the personal address that you got from the CSUN IT computer help. it should be http://csun.edu/~your initials and last 4 digits of your id number.htm
For ex. http://csun.edu/~km1234.htm

-Then click the Next button on the bottom right corner.

-The next dialogue box that should appear will say Site Definition as the title.
Make sure to indicate "No, I do not want to use server technology."

-The next dialogue box that will appear

Lesson number 1- GETTING YOUR INTERNET ADDRESS

Okay lets begin lesson number 1. Setting up your home page address and permanent home page that all your edited work will be saved to.

1. GO TO THE IT OR COMPUTER HELP AT CSUN
First of all you need to go to the IT or computer help at CSUN and ask them to set you up on the CSUN U:// drive network. They can be located at the basement of bottom floor of the CSUN library.
Ask them that you need a CSUN internet address. This internet address is similar to any internet address only difference is that your address will be attached to the csun server. The address they give you should have your initials and your four number digit ending to your CSUN id number. for example http://www.csun.edu/~km1234.htm
Once you get your specific address make sure to write it down or save it somewhere becuase you will be needing it to begin your homepage.
NOTE: You cannot create a page or even try to begin without going to the CSUN IT Help. Trust me, i tried and it won't work. You must be logged on to the CSUN server with your own address so that Dr. Hardy can open your home pages to grade them.

2. GET ON A COMPUTER WITH DREAMWEAVER PROGRAM

The psy computer lab on the third floor all have dreamweaver installed on them for you to use for free! If you don't want to go to the psy lab then you will have to either already own it on your own PC or find someone who has the program that you can borrow. Dr. Hardy unfortunately does not have the program for you to borrow. Plus it's apparently "illegal" to copy the program from some one else soooo....."mum's the word" if you can get a hold of the program to install on your own laptop or PC. I will be showing you instructions via PC so if your a Mac lover I can't help you at all.

3. OKAY LETS BEGIN

Open up DW(dreamweaver)
